TM Appliations must comply with Nice Classification (11th Ed.)

The Qatari Trademark Office announced that, effective September 15, 2025, all trademark applications must reference the 11th Edition of the Nice Classification for the specification of goods and services.

The practice of claiming class headings or including all goods and services within a class is no longer permitted. The directive is issued in accordance with GCC Law No. 7 of 2014 concerning trademark protection.

This requirement applies to both new applications and applications currently under review. Applicants are advised to prepare their specifications strictly in accordance with the classes and terminology set forth in the 11th Edition to ensure full compliance.
