Anticipated commencement date of the Trade Marks Act

The anticipated commencement date of the Trade Marks Act 2023 is now 1 July 2025 according to a Ministerial Statement made by the Hon. Jason P. Hayward, JP, MP on 30 May 2025.

The new law will allow for multi-class applications which will result in lower official fees for trade mark owners wishing to file in multiple classes. New official fees are set out in the Schedule to the Trade Marks Amendment Act 2025

International treaties such as the Paris Convention and Madrid Protocol have not yet been extended to Bermuda and, therefore, related sections of the Trade Marks Act will not become operational immediately.
