Official Fees Increased

The Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (INPI) has issued Ordinance INPI/PR No. 10/2025, establishing a new schedule of official fees, effective August 7, 2025. It is the first fee increase since 2012. The adjustment affects new and existing applications —including patents, trademarks, and industrial designs—with an average increase of 24.1% and some categories rising by up to 49%. Microenterprises, individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEIs), small businesses, innovation-focused startups, scientific and technological institutions (ICTs), and nonprofits will continue to benefit from a discount of up to 60% The INPI eliminated fees for patents and trademarks.
The core objectives of the fee adjustment are to enhance operational efficiency, support digital transformation, and strengthen service capabilities. However, it is recommended that applications be filed before August 07, 2025, to avoid the new charges with special costs.
