Class 33 now available following Nice Classification update


The Qatar Trade Mark Office has confirmed that, following adoption of the 13th edition of the Nice Classification, all trade mark classes are now available for registration. This means that Class 33 should now be available in Qatar, removing a previous limitation.

The change will help applicants align beverage-related filings in Qatar more closely with international specifications and reduce the need for workaround strategies. Brand owners with an interest in Class 33 should review their portfolios urgently for any filing gaps and consider putting watch notices in place, as third parties may seek to take advantage of the newly available class.
