Certified electronic copies of IP documents as a new service


Since May 28, CIPO is offering certified electronic copies of official documents for patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and copyright.

Requests can be submitted online via CIPO’s Order IP documents page. Certified copies are sent by email within 7 business days after payment and are provided as PDFs with a secure digital signature and electronic seal.

The fee is CAD 44 per certification, plus CAD 13 per related IP application. Certified paper copies remain available.
