CNIPA publishes 2026 IP Powerhouse Plan

On May 16, 2026, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) published the 2026 Plan for Building an Intellectual Property Powerhouse.

The Plan sets out China’s key IP priorities for 2026, including the revision of the Trade Mark Law, updates to copyright and other IP-related regulations, and further development of rules for data IP, AI, and blockchain.

It also foresees stronger enforcement measures, including campaigns against IP-related crime, enhanced trade secret protection, and action against online and cinema piracy.

Brand owners and foreign-invested companies should monitor the legislative developments closely and review their IP management, enforcement, and opposition strategies in China.
